Minyi Zhang

Minyi Zhang started playing the piano at the age of six in her native Shenzhen, China, where her teachers included Mei Xiao, Zhaoyi Dan, and Mingqiang Li. At Interlochen, she continued studies with Thomas Lymenstull , and is currently a freshman at The Juilliard School, studying with Jerome Lowenthal. She won 1st Prize in the 2016 Shenzhen Piano Open Competition, the Gold Prize in The Third “Changjiang Cup” National Piano Tournament, and Grand Prize among All Gold Prize Recipients Group in 2012. She also won the second Shenzhen Piano Open Tournament. Ouside of piano, Minyi is also very passionate about musical theatre and has participated in several productions. She also did Taekwondo before high school, and has won medals in the Shenzhen Taekwondo Sparring Tournament.
