Virtual Art Exhibits: Art Gunther

Art Gunther

Art Gunther of Blauvelt, N.Y. is a retired editor of the Editorial Pages, columnist and staff photographer of the original Journal-News in Rockland County, New York, where he served with the newspaper for 42 years. 

    In retirement, he is a painter and exhibits abstract/primitive works at various galleries and art centers. He also publishes a weekly essay at thecolumnrule.com (Artwork is included at that site.)

   He was named literary and visual artist of the year in Rockland County, N.Y.,  2005 and 2010, respectively.

     Gunther's painting approach is to mix dramatic acrylic colors and apply to wood, canvas and other media, blending and scraping for effect.
