Why the Reviewer Decided to Read this Book:

I was super sick, and needed a book to read. My mom had always suggested this book, so I started reading from her collection.

Milagros's Review:

To say the least, I was not impressed by Stephanie Meyers’ Twilight book. I am a sucker for supernatural romance, but I just didn’t enjoy this one. I feel that I was too old to read this book, which is why I was probably so uninterested while reading it.

The story takes place with our main character Bella Swan, who has just moved to Forks, Washington. Bella is a very awkward character, which brings a lot of awkward and second hand embarrassment while reading. While Bella lives her new life in Forks, she meets Edward Cullen. Edward and his family are considered outcasts by the student body of Bella's high school, which makes Bella very interested in Edward.

The Cullen family are considered, in simple terms, "weird" in the town of Forks. The Cullen siblings rarely socialize with any other students, so the students of Forks find them odd. They also have abnormally pale skin, which obviously makes them stand out from the rest. Upon further research, Bella discovers Edward is a vampire. She embraces it, which I wasn't surprised about. I mean, I guess that she likes 117 year old monsters pretending to be teenagers. Eventually Edward tells his family about Bella, and Edwards' family embraces her. Well, everyone but Rosalie. Rosalie doesn't like the idea of Edward dating a mortal girl, rightfully so. Overall, this book just felt super drawn out and made me very uncomfortable.

Throughout the duration of the book, I felt that Edward had an unhealthy obsession with Bella. It was understandable to me why Bella would be curious about him, but Edwards' antics and sneaking around just made me uncomfortable. The overall concept of “a vampire is watching me while I sleep” or “he’s always watching over me,” just put a bad taste in my mouth. The writing also just made me feel awkward. I, personally, wouldn’t recommend it, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
