Local History/Newburgh Free Library: Obituary Requests

For obituary lookup requests from the Newburgh Evening News or Middletown Times Herald Record, please contact the local history librarian at hhgeo@rcls.org. To facilitate the process, kindly provide the following details:

• Individual's name
• Date of death (month/day/year)
• Your name and address

Upon receiving your request, we will conduct a search and, if successful, mail you a copy of the obituary. To initiate a search, a fee is applicable based on the information provided:

• $2.00 for searches with the specific month, day, and year of the person's death.
• $5.00 for searches with only the month and year of death.

You may wait to send the fee until after receiving the obituary. Please make checks payable to "Friends of the Newburgh Free Library" and address them to Heather H. Georghiou at 124 Grand St., Newburgh, NY 12550.

It's important to note that we cannot guarantee the existence of an obituary for any individual. The search fee is applicable whether or not an obituary is found. To streamline the process, please limit obituary requests to a maximum of three per envelope.
