The RCLS Road Trip is a program designed to encourage patrons throughout the RCLS service area to visit as many of our 44 participating libraries libraries as they can over the course of the summer months. Participating patrons will be given a travel log with library information, including library addresses, websites, and hours, which will also be used to keep track of the libraries they visited.
This is an all-ages program, and we hope many new and existing library users enjoy exploring our wonderful libraries!
First stop: Give a travel log, stamp your library’s page, and give a raffle ticket. Mark your statistics sheet accordingly.
All library visits: Welcome patrons into the library, stamp their travel log, and give a small raffle ticket. Mark your statistics sheet accordingly.
Every 5 libraries: Give a bonus prize raffle ticket.
Weekly Task: Submit participation statistics via the Road Trip Beanstack challenge.
Monthly Task: Send raffle tickets to RCLS via delivery to the attention of Joanna Goldfarb.
Please note: Suffern Free Library is not participating in the RCLS Road Trip and is marked as a free space in the travel log.
RCLS will conduct prize drawings, notify winning patrons, and contact libraries as needed. Information on prizes can be viewed on the Prizes tab of this LibGuide.
The goals of the RCLS Road Trip are:
The 2025 RCLS Road Trip encourages patrons to visit as many libraries as possible, but emphasizes exploring all libraries in a county. Our hope is that community members will learn more about what their neighboring libraries have to offer.
"The program was awesome! People were so happy to be recognized for their road trip efforts. They were happy to talk about their experiences and get a tour of the building"
"As an RCLS librarian, patron and parent, I enjoyed every single stop we made this summer and enthusiastically welcomed everyone who stopped in to the library at which I work."
"I think it was a fabulous idea to make people more aware of the library system as a whole that went very well with the summer reading theme!"
"It reminded me what I love about my job - meeting new people who love books and libraries!"
