OverDrive / Libby
Using OverDrive and Libby to read ebooks, audio books, and magazines is easy. All you need is your Library card and your PIN/Password (Forgot your PIN/Password? Reset it here).
Please note the the OverDrive mobile apps are being phased out, so if you're currently using it, switch over to Libby to avoid any interruptions in your reading!
What is OverDrive and Libby?
OverDrive is a platform to find, borrow, and enjoy eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, and videos. Libby is the mobile app for Overdrive
How do I sign up?
Go to rcls.overdrive.com or download the Libby app. You will need to enter your home Library, your 14-digit Tappan Library Card Number, and your PIN/Password (Forgot your PIN/Password? How do I "borrow" items?
Once you have successfully logged in, you can search for items you want. You can borrow items that are currently available or place a hold on items that are currently checked out. Click the "Borrow" link, select your loan period 7,14, or 21 days, then click "Borrow." The item is now in your "Loans," and you can access it the app, or on your computer.
Can I download / borrow as many items as I want?
You may borrow up to 8 items at a time.
How long can I keep items, and how are they returned?
You may select your loan period of 7, 14, or 21 days. The default setting is 14 days.
Returns are managed automatically by OverDrive / Libby. You do not need to return items manually. You can choose to return an item early, instruction to do that will be with the title on your device.
How do I borrow and download or stream items on my tablet or smartphone?
You'll need to install the app for your device. You will find the "Libby" app in the Apple App Store, Google Play Store or Amazon App Store. Click the icons below to be redirected.

Using OverDrive through a web browser
1. Navigate to https://rcls.overdrive.com/
2. Click the 'Sign In' button on the top right
3. Enter your Library card and PIN and click the 'Sign In' button
4. You're ready to read ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines from OverDrive! Click on a book cover and click 'Borrow' to start reading. You can search for a specific title or author, or just browse the recommended titles on the home screen!
5. To view what books you have checked out, placed on hold, or placed on your wishlist, click the 'My Account' dropdown and select which you'd like to view
Sign In to Libby
1. Download the Libby app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store
2. Open app and you'll be asked if you have a library card. Tap 'Yes'
3. Tap 'Search for a Library'
4. In the search box, type 'Tappan' and select the result that says 'Ramapo Catskill Library System'
5. Tap 'Sign In With My Card'
6. Enter your Library Card Number, then tap the 'Next' button
7. Enter your PIN, then tap 'Sign In'
8. You're ready to read ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines from Libby! Simply tap on a book cover, or use the Search feature, and click 'Borrow'
9. When you're ready to read, navigate to your Shelf (the stack of books icon along the bottom bar) and select the book you want to start enjoying!
