What is Hoopla?
Hoopla is a service provided by the Tappan Library to our card holders. It is simple to access and use. No waiting. No hassles.
Search for an item, find what you want and instantly download or stream the content with no wait. Hooplas content includes eBooks, audiobooks, comics, music, movies, and TV. Hoopla content is accessed via the Hoopla website, or Hoopla's Android or iOS mobile apps.
How do I sign up?
Go to www.hoopladigital.com to create your account. You will be asked to enter a valid email address and set up a password. You will also need to select the TAPPAN LIBRARY as your library, and enter your 14 digit Tappan library card number. You will also be asked to enter your PIN which should be the last four digits of the phone number you provided to us. See the guides below for a Step-by-Step walkthrough on signing up.
How do I "borrow" items?
Once you create an account and log into the Hoopla website or set up the Hoopla app (see below), you'll see the instructions for borrowing content.
How many items can I borrow?
Each month our patrons are allowed to borrow 3 items. That will be reset at the beginning of each calendar month.
How long can I keep items, and how are they returned?
Most Movies and TV episodes are available for 72 hours, but some publishers limit borrowing time to 48 hours. The time starts as soon as you download the item.
Most Music albums are available for 7 days from the time you borrow the title.
Most Audiobooks, Comics, and eBooks are available for 21 days from the time you borrow the title.
Returns are managed automatically by the Hoopla website and/or mobile app. You will not need to "return" the items mannually.
How do I borrow and download or stream items on my tablet or smartphone?
You'll need to install the app for your device. You will find the "Hoopla Digital" app in the Apple App Store, Google Play Store or Amazon App Store. Click the icons below to be redirected.
On the Web
1. Navigate to www.hoopladigital.com
2. If you don't already have an account, click the 'Get Started Today' button
3. Enter your email and a password you'll remember
4. In the Find Library screen, type 'Tappan' in the search box and click on 'Tappan Free Library', then the 'Next' button
5. Enter your Library Card and PIN then the 'Sign Me Up' button
6. You're ready to start reading!
On your Mobile Device
1. Download the Hoopla app from the Apple App Store, the Google Play Store, or from Amazon for your Kindle and open the app once it is downloaded
2. If you haven't already created an account, tap 'Don't have an account? Sign Up'
3. Where prompted, enter your email address and a password you'll remember, then the 'Next' button
Please note that once you enter a password in, you must remember it and will need it to log in
4. In the 'Find Library' screen, type 'Tappan' in the search box and select 'Tappan Free Library', then the 'Agree' button
5. Enter your Library card and Pin, then the 'Next' button
6. You're ready to start reading! Tap the 'Continue' button and start browsing
7. Tap on a title you want to read, and tap 'Borrow' to start reading!
