The pyramid structure shown is the hierarchy by which information is determined and disseminated throughout libraries in the state of New York. While each public library is its own entity separate from another public library, all public libraries fall under the Education Department of New York State.
Libraries follow written documents in order to carry out their missions and vision. As a trustee, you should closely read your library's charter, bylaws, and policies. Should questions arise during the reading of any of these documents, you are encouraged to reach out to the President of your Board of Trustee or the Library Director.
