The Library of Things is a collection of non-traditional items that complement the Newburgh Free Library’s mission to provide diverse opportunities for learning and engagement. Our goal is to give you a variety of things to borrow that you may not have at home, or may only need once and don't want to purchase.
Borrowing a LoT item is on a first come, first-served basis: reservations or requests for specific dates to use items cannot be made. (Backpacks are an exception).
Call the Library at 563-3600 or 563-3618 to see if an item is available. Have the barcode of the item you'd like handy to make it easier. The barcode looks like this: 32826011740081 in the description of the item. Staff will see if the item is currently out or is available.
Items will be cleaned between uses.
The equipment in our Library of Things collection are for use by patrons 18 years of age or older with a valid library card in good standing from the Newburgh Library. Patrons may borrow up to two pieces of equipment at a time. The lending period is 28 days with a late fee of $2 per day (up to $20 and then you will be billed the cost of the item). All items must be picked up from the library as well as cleaned and returned to the library during open hours. Items can be borrowed by calling the Library at (845) 563-3600.
Review the Library of Things Collection and Borrowing Policy (below) for more details. This form will need to be signed by the patron at the time of checkout.
Backpacks are exempted, and can be placed on hold and checked out by any library member in RCLS.
