"REVOLUTIONARY ROAD"
The main roads through Warwick were heavily travelled by patriot troops, government officials, and others, during the Revolutionary War. Other roadways from Philadelphia and points South, up to the New England colonies, were too near to British occupied New York. Many traveller diaries mention going through on Kings Highway, in particular, and stopping for refreshment or the night at prominent homes and taverns; this includes Baird's Tavern, Col. John Hathorn's, McCamly's in New Milford, John Kennedy's in Florida, etc.

We have obtained permission to present the Warwick sections of some of these maps, with notes.
