First Graders
First graders have a wide range of reading skills. At this age, there is a focus on vocabulary, sentence structure, and comprehension. This is a year for encouraging daily reading habits and boosting children's confidence with familiar books and stories.
Easy Readers are found in our library with a call number starting with JE (Juvenile Easy). They are located on the short shelf near the Children's Desk.
Easy Chapter Books are found with the call number starting with J (Juvenile) in our Fiction section. They will have an orange dot at the bottom of the spine.
