Rules of Use

Rules of Use

Hotspots are available to adult Valley Cottage and Nyack Library patrons (18 years+) in good standing.  A current Valley Cottage or Nyack Library card is required.

Individuals may borrow one hotspot at a time.

The loan period is fourteen (14) days for 4G hotspots and seven (7) days for 5G hotspots. Hotspots may not be renewed. Once returned, another hotspot cannot be checked out for 24 hours.

5G hotspots are open for local holds in the system. If requested, we will hold a 4G hotspot at the reference desk for one hour.

Hotspots must be returned to the Valley Cottage Library Circulation Desk. Hotspots cannot be returned in the book drop.

A late fee of $10 per day, up $100, will be imposed for every day the hotspot is late. Additionally, the Valley Cottage Library will turn off data on any overdue hotspot.

Lost or damaged hotspots will result in the patron’s account being charged for a replacement equal to the full value of the device.

Tampering with library equipment, including bypassing security functions, is prohibited. Patrons must abide by the Valley Cottage Library’s Electronic Resources and Internet Policy (found on the library’s website).
