Everything you need to know to volunteer at Finkelstein Memorial Library!

Attendance Policy

  • Sign up for all shifts using Signup.com. A link will be emailed to you upon the completion of your orientation. If you have any questions about SignUp, email me at fmlteen@rcls.org

  • You will also need to join the Remind for teen volunteers

    • To join our class on Remind, text @fmlvol to 81010

  • If there is any change to your volunteer schedule:

    • not coming

    • running late

      • If you are aware of a change early on (still UNLOCKED in SignUp), you can change/cancel your shift right in SignUp

      • If your shift is within a few days (LOCKED in SignUp), please text the volunteer Remind

  • Arrive on time for your volunteer shift.

  • Arriving late without notifying the librarian will count as a strike

  • Not coming in without notifying a librarian will also count as a strike

  • Call out as soon as you find out about a conflict – even if it is after your scheduled shift

  • 1 Strike = verbal warning

  • 2 Strikes = email cc’d to parent/guardian

  • 3 Strikes = Suspension of hours

Volunteer Code of Conduct

1.       You are responsible for your schedule.  You will not receive a reminder call, but SignUp will email you a reminder two days before your shift. You can also use SignUp to check your schedule. 

2.       Shifts are only 2 hours. There are no regularly scheduled breaks. You may ask the librarian for a break if you need one.

3.       Dress appropriately, as you would for school.

4.       Cell phone use is not permitted except in cases of emergency.  Headphones are also not permitted.

5.       You may not have any visitors while you volunteer. Watching younger siblings during your shift is also not permitted.

6.      You are expected to act professionally at all times.  If you are unable to act appropriately, your volunteer service may be discontinued.
