Grant Resources: Home
The Foundation Center
The Newburgh Free Library is a Candid Community partner. We offer a variety of free resources that provide funding information to the non-profit and individual grantseeking public.
In addition to the two online databases listed below, the Library has a collection of books, periodicals and videos that cover such topics as grants, foundations, grant proposal writing, non-profit management, and fundraising. There are also links to other online resources, on the page below.
Librarians are available to assist you in your funding-related research whenever the Library is open. For help, please feel free to stop by the Reference Desk or call 563-3625.

New Guidestar access
GuideStar provides the most complete and up-to-date information available about nonprofits, so it is the best place to go if you need to research a nonprofit enterprise.
Remote access to FDO
Candid has now ended their Covid-era program of remote access to FDO Essential. However, if your nonprofit qualifies, you may still be able to gain access through a new program they are offering.
Candid, formed from the merger of Foundation Center and Guidestar, is not only focused on providing information about grants opportunities for non-profits, but also aims at increasing transparency in the philanthropic world in general. To further this goal, they have created a system of Seals of Transparency, which make information about your nonprofit easily available to potential donors.
Candid’s Go for the Gold program offers one free year of access to FDO Essential to any nonprofit with an annual budget of less than $1M, if it earns a Gold Seal of transparency.(or higher) Just click on the link for details.
