TOWARDS GREATER UNDERSTANDING
NOTE: THIS IS AN ONGOING PROJECT, CONTRIBUTIONS ARE WELCOME
Warwick has struggled with how to discuss and address the history of minority populations, racism, bias, and inequality in our past, as have many hometowns. The under-documentation of persons of color and other ethnic and social groups and their challenges and contributions has often lead to a distorted understanding of history here.
In recent decades dedicated volunteers have been endeavoring to discover and bring to light this often deeply hidden history and bring a greater inclusiveness and understanding. A great deal further must be done in encourage engagement of this "hard history" and its lessons for us today.
We present these resources to assist the community conversation, and encourage those interested to help us identify and develop a more accurate, inclusive, and meaningful narrative of Warwick's past.
This guide is currently offered as a draft, and is being developed further. We welcome your suggestions and contributions.
