OverDrive Sora Public Library Connect: For Public Libraries

How does PLC it work?

1. Schools opt in to PLC

2. OverDrive automatically enables students in your community to access age-appropriate titles through the Sora app.

3. Libraries and schools can see usage statistics in Marketplace.

How does a public library connect?

Ramapo Catskill Library System received approval from the Director's Association to give permission for any school district within the RCLS service area to connect to PLC, as long as that district meets the eligibility requirements outlined in the agreement linked below. Public Libraries do not need to take any further steps to join PLC.

Who buys the books for PLC?

Public Libraries are not responsible for purchasing books for PLC. Library Media Specialists and O-U BOCES purchase e-materials for students in their schools as per their collection development policies. Public Libraries should continue purchasing e-materials for their communities according to their own collection development policies.

Are marketing materials available?

Yes. OverDrive has ready made marketing materials for Libby, OverDrive, Sora, and Public Library Connect. To view their materials, visit the Marketing & Outreach pages on the Overdrive Website.
