I chose this because I needed a graphic novel/comic book for my bingo card. I couldn't put it down. Wow. Digital comic available on Hoopla

Nice little book about Sarah Brenner, who stated life as a poor girl from New York City’s Lower East Side, and new up to become a famous writer of children's books about Jewish kids, because she thought it was unfair Jewish kids didn't have books that told stories about Jewish kids. 100 years later and we're still arguing about representation in media. A nice piece of history many of us are likely to be unaware of. Audiobook is available on Hoopla

A fun children's book about an obscure, if fun, piece of history. The Wright Brothers wrapped a plain muslin cloth often used to make underwear around the rib of their wing, changing history forever. A swatch of the exact fabric went to the Moon and to Mars. A fun recounting of pieces of this fabric and the historic firsts it stitches together.

A fascinating and often funny book on cannibalism, how and why it happens in nature, and when humans engage in it due to starvation or for funeral rituals. The author wisely chose not to cover murder cannibalism, to avoid causing harm to victims' families. Fascinating stuff. eBook and audiobook are both available on Hoopla

Terrific kids non-fiction book about Thomas Jefferson struck a blow for scientific progress by responding to a poorly researched book by a French scientist slagging off the flora and fauna as inferior to what could be found in the old world. Fun to read and the author isn't shy about calling out Jefferson for his own shortcomings.

The newest installment is as funny as ever. The mystery was quite good and the character interactions are always so good. There is a significant story line in this one. I was shocked at the end. Can’t wait for the next one. eBook and audiobook available on OverDrive/Libby

This is the first in a series that I will definitely continue reading. It had a great mystery. Lots of twists and turns. There is also really good details about food and different cultures. The main character is Filipino and her best friend is Indian. Audiobook available on OverDrive/Libby

I read "The Maid" last year, and this was so much fun I could not put it down. It caught my eye because of it's yellow cover-I did not even realize there was another Maid book until I saw it. eBook and audiobook available on OverDrive/Libby

The second in a great series. Even more suspense and culture in this installment. I love all the food references. They include recipes which is very cool. I can’t wait to read more in this series.

Like life, this book goes from moment to moment, memory to memory culminating in a rich narrative of the power of friendship. Inside you will find thought provoking phrases interspersed with quite funny lines. Another gem from Frederik Backman. eBook and audiobook available on OverDrive/Libby

This book was a slow start and then kind of just ended right after the shocking twist. The characters were selfish and a bit annoying but overall I'm glad I finished the book!

This is the 3rd one I have read. Loved it as much as the other two! More great characters and the mystery was good! The different foods were continuously interesting. Can't wait for number 4.

The fourth book in the series. They just keep getting better. I love how the characters are so familiar after reading all the books in the series. The mystery again was great. I also liked the introduction of some new characters.

Another good sequel in this series. The interactions of the characters were very interesting. I didn’t figure out who did it until the end. The author should have put a little more clues because it did feel a little abrupt. But otherwise good read.

An interesting read. Each chapter is told from the point of view of different characters. I loved how all of the ideas and people connected by the end. This would make a great tv series.

Another great fast paced read by Freida McFadden! As a fan of her books, I expect to be entertained and kept on the edge of my seat. I really enjoyed the inner dialogue of the main character, and the questioning of her reliability throughout the story. Despite how many of her books I have read, she continued to surprise me in this Novel. Audiobook available on OverDrive/Libby or on Hoopla

The Clown in a Cornfield books started as a fun riff on 80s slasher movies and turned into something a bit more. This time around a religious community has been taken over by the cult devoted to Frendo, the old timey clown mascot villain introduced in the first book. The heroine is still catching up with the people who invaded her town in the second book and realizes she's being led into a trap. All the plot lines converge in a surprising, and satisfying way with more of the not so subtle social commentary. Well worth the journey, and makes me look forward to the next book. Interesting novel about a boy born with blue skin raised in Indian to believe he was a literal god, and gradual realization something else is going on. Audiobook is available on Hoopla

As much as I liked the setting and characters, I found the story and storytelling to be, at best, mid-level. Maybe it's time to stop writing these stories that romanticize the Holocaust.

Between wanting to finally catch up with a Brandon Sanderson book and needing a science fiction novel for a book challenge, I landed on this, and I was not disappointed. Sanderson has a really interesting take on superheroes. In this world, their power makes them monsters fighting over territory, and the heroes are normal people finding ways to strike back. eBook is available on OverDrive/Libby

A beautiful and elegant graphic novel that tells the story of a girl exploring an empty world through a viewfinder that shows her how things used to be. Wonderful.

A wonderful, lively book in verse about a teenage mother with a preternatural gift for cooking, trying to figure out a few things, and what she's going to do with her life. Wonderful book for young adults.

Another great installment in this series. It is so funny and heartwarming even though there is a murder to solve. I love all the characters and the author makes the town seem like a place I would love to live in.

I loved the beginning and middle of this book. The storyline intertwining with sea turtle preservation was wonderful. It was not the ending I hoped for but overall a good read.
