Inventors in How Products are Made
"The 7-volume print set, How Products are Made, published by Thomson Gale from 1994 through 2002, now has an electronic counterpart. The user can search by keyword, browse each volume individually, or browse an alphabetical list of all entries from Accordion to Zirconium. Each entry includes understated advertising links related to the product, a background, perhaps a history, diagrams, the raw materials needed, the manufacturing process, quality control, the future of the product, and a short bibliography titled "Where to Learn More." The last section of each entry is User Contributions where users may submit comments about the article or additional information. This resource should be useful to all age levels needing information and diagrams about how things are made." Source: Best Free Reference Web Sites 2006/American Library Association

Who's Alive and Who's Dead
This website is “dedicated to helping you find out which of the noted celebrities of our time are with us, and which ones have died.” Search by a person’s name or browse by categories, each with a list box for viewing one sub-category at a time or a link for browsing all of them at once. The Actors & Actresses category offers a list of television shows showing the major actors and who’s alive and who’s dead. Musical Performers offers subcategories of types of music and musical groups such as the Beatles, the Kingston Trio, and the Rolling Stones. Other categories include Political Figures and Athletes & Sports Figures. Each entry in the website’s database includes the person’s date of birth, status (alive or dead), date of death (if applicable), and age—at the time of death or now, if alive. The site also offers a list of the day’s birthdays and another of recent deaths (within the past year).
