The Ramapo Catskill Library System is excited to announce that registration for Library Advocacy Day is now open, and we are returning to Albany on February 5th! Library Advocacy Day (LAD) offers a chance for library champions to unite and amplify our voices, ensuring legislative support for our libraries through the state budget and pertinent legislation.
This year has been challenging for advocates of the freedom to read. Incidents challenging intellectual freedom have surfaced in libraries across the state. It's crucial that we convene at the capitol to advocate for the right to read and emphasize the necessity of adequate funding for the institutions safeguarding this right. To this end, RCLS has collaborated with the Mid-Hudson Library System and Westchester Library System to arrange FOUR buses for the trip to Albany.
The fee for traveling on any of these buses is $10 per person.
Advocacy Day Prep sessions are scheduled for January and are listed on the RCLS Calendar. If you haven't attended Advocacy Day in Albany before, it's recommended you join one of these sessions as we will be reviewing budget requests and legislative priorities.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Jen Park, Government Relations Specialist, RCLS. Looking forward to seeing everyone in Albany! Let's make our voices heard!

Prefer to drive rather than take the bus? Be aware that lots fill quickly so give yourself plenty of time to park and get through Security.
