Children's Library Online at Valley Cottage: Connecting & Helping

Online resources and guides related to children provided by the Valley Cottage Library

Reach Out

During this time when we are distant but together, it's important to find ways to reach out and connect with others. Below are some ways to socially connect, volunteer, or brighten someone's day!

Town of Clarkstown

Kids, Children, Cute, Childhood, People, Happy

The Town of Clarkstown Recreation and Parks is having daily activities, crafts, and contests on their Facebook page!

Neighborhood scavenger hunts

Teddy bears are appearing in windows all over the world for a game for bored kids turned bear hunters.

It's a  global "Teddy Bear Hunt" for children — uniting neighborhoods and giving children an exciting, social-distancing-safe scavenger hunt activity during coronavirus lockdowns.

The hunts are inspired by Michael Rosen’s 1989 children’s book "We’re Going on a Bear Hunt," above. Take a walk around your neighborhood and see how many bears you find!

Thank You, Polaroid, Letters, Thank You Very Much, Word

At Montefiore Nyack Hospital, our frontline staff is working tirelessly to provide care to patients battling COVID-19. Help us show them how much we care and appreciate their service by making a cardpicture, or writing a letter of encouragement and inspiration. A THANK YOU BOX will be placed on the corner of North Midland Ave. and 5th Ave. by the Gazebo. Or you can mail it to:

Montefiore Nyack Hospital
Att: Volunteer Office, Healthcare Heroes
160 North Midland Ave.
Nyack, NY 10960

For more information call our Volunteer Office, 845-249-1734.

After the rain

Rainbows over the world

All over the globe, children are drawing or painting rainbows to remind us that after the storm, comes the rainbow.

Using chalk, paint, paper, or whatever you have, you can display a rainbow to show we are staying positive!

Chalk your walk

Board, School, Task, Auto Task, Continue, Perseverance

Thousands of people have been using chalk to write a positive message of hope and perseverance on their sidewalks and streets so that others can see them on their walks. Cheer up your neighbors and create a pretty picture or happy message today!
