Summer 2017: Summer Reading Program

Build a Better World!

Welcome to Tappan Library's 2017 Summer Reading Program!

Kids choose their own books and read at their own pace for a chance to win weekly prizes.  We'll also pick one child and one teen at the end of the summer to receive grand prizes!  The Summer Reading Program runs Monday, June 26 to Saturday, August 19.  Register in the library to receive a reading log.  For more information, contact Youth Services Librarian Lara Cohen at 359-3877 or

Children Entering Grades K-5

Starting Monday, June 26, stop by the library to register and pick up a reading log.  Kids should aim to read an hour a week. When your child has completed an hour of reading, bring the reading log to the library and they will receive a coupon for free ice cream at Applebee's!  Plus, they can enter a raffle for that week's prize!

Teens Entering Grades 6-12

Stop by the library starting Monday, June 26 to pick up a review card and tell us about a book you're reading or read recently.  Drop it off in the Teen Room and you'll be entered in our raffle for tickets to NY Comic Con! Review cards are also available for download below.

Going on vacation?  Email the information to Miss Lara at and we'll enter you in the raffle!

Children 5 and Under (not entering kindergarten)

Even the youngest children can take part this summer by starting our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program.  For more information on this on-going program, click here.
