Introduction

About this guide

Your library's local history resources are items that only you have. By bringing them out of their archival boxes and locked bookcases, you can enhance your library's programming, introduce your services to new users and create a strong and lasting bond between your organization and the community you serve. This guide is designed to show some cost-effective and unique solutions to "Brand" your library using your local history materials.

This guide is based on the Reference and User Services Association of ALA (RUSA) Guidelines for establishing local history collections in public libraries. You can view the complete document here.
