10 GUIDELINES TO MANAGE YOUR VOLUNTEERS

  1. Considere the volunteers' skills prior to assigning responsibilities and/or work duties: plan ahead.
  2. Host a volunteer appreciation day to recogniz their contributions 
  3. Encourage volunteers to give suggestions and feedback.
  4. Communicate the organization’s expectations clearly
  5. Provide training and follow up
  6. Reimburse out of pocket expenses as budget permits
  7. Provide a flexible schedule
  8. Change undesirable responsibilities and/or work duties when able.
  9. Include volunteers in the organization’s future plans.
  10. Dismissed volunteers when expectations and work ethic are lacking.
