Microsoft Office 2010: Working With Images

Inserting Images

Add a Photo to a Slide
1. Navigate to Insert tab within the Microsoft Office 2010 Ribbon
2. From the Insert tab, navigate to the Images grouping
3. Within the Illustrations grouping, select the icon all the way to the left of the grouping’s box labeled “Picture
4. Left-click once on the “Picture” icon


5. The Insert Picture dialog box will pop open
6. Browse the files and folders on your hard drive or external storage device to select the photo you wish to insert

Add Clip Art to a Slide
1. Navigate to the Insert tab within the Microsoft Office 2010 ribbon
2. From the Insert tab, navigate to the Images grouping
3. Within the Illustrations grouping, select the icon for Clip Art


4. The Clip Art side bar will open
5. Use the search box at the top of the Clip Art side bar to enter a search term that corresponds with the images you wish to be returned
6. For example, type “confetti” and hit the “Go” button


7. You can point your browser to: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/clipart/default.aspx?ver=12&app=powerpnt.exe
to search additional clip art images from Microsoft Office Online’s Clip Art library
8. When you find the thumbnail of the image you wish to insert, click the image to drop into your presentation


Animating Images

Animating Clip Art or Photos from Files
1. Select (left-click) on the clip art or picture you wish to animate
2. Navigate to the Animations tab within the Microsoft Office Ribbon
3. Navigate to the Animations grouping
4. From the Animations grouping, select an animation such as “Wipe” from the drop-down menu.
5. A preview of the animation will present itself in slide view
