Working with Text in Slides

Using the Slides View
1. The default editing view, as displayed on the left-hand side of the PowerPoint presentation window, is the Slides View
2. The highlighted slide (thumbnail) on the left-hand side is the slide that is displayed for editing
3. Highlight a thumbnail of a slide on the left-hand side of the presentation window to select that slide for editing

Adding Text

1. Text boxes (indicated by perforated lines outlining boxes within the slides) are set up for adding text and images (working in a template, these text boxes are pre-formatted for easy editing)
2. Click the text box that you want to add text into; the default text will highlight - type over the default text

Editing Text
1. Highlight the text you wish to edit (e.g., enlarge, change font size, or color)
2. Navigate to the Home tab within the Microsoft Office Ribbon
3. From the Home tab, navigate to the Font grouping
4. Within the Font grouping, options for changing Font; Style (B; I; U), font size, and color are listed similarly to that in Word 2010.

Slide Layouts

Changing the Slide Layout
1. You can change the layout of the individual slide at any time, such as to have more flexibility over the location of a photo or to add bulleted text.
2. Navigate to the Home tab and then to the Slides grouping
3. Within the Slides grouping, there will be an icon for “Layout”
4. Click the “Layout icon” to expand its menu
5. Highlight the layout that best meets your design needs and left-click once
6. The new layout will appear within the slide


Managing Slides

Insert a Slide
1. Navigate to the Home tab on the MS Office ribbon
2. From the Home tab, navigate to the Slides grouping
3. Select the “New Slide” icon within the Slides grouping
4. A drop-down list of slide layouts (text and image arrangements) will appear
5. Click on the thumbnail of the layout you wish to use in your new slide
6. PowerPoint will insert your new slide

Delete a Slide
1. On the left-hand task pane that offers thumbnails of each slide, click the slide you    
wish to delete (highlight will glow)
2. After the slide is highlighted, either hit the Delete or Backspace key on the keyboard.


               
Re-order Slides
1. Navigate to the left-hand task pane that offers thumbnails of each slide (the Slides tab)
2. Click the slide you wish to move and drag the slide (holding down the left side of your mouse) to its new desired location
